MCA #3, Sunday Evening

Well. Yesterday and all that it had entailed -- specifically, making out with a bleached-blond musician who thought he was smooth -- had been a little bizarre. Or at least it was now, in the light of day and all that.

Fortunately, April at least planned on being way more mature and less weird today. Namely, by watching a horror movie marathon with a teenager. That was legit, right?

There was pizza and beer, and the TV was currently playing the DVD menu for a movie that was said to have blown over forty percent of its budget on fake blood and zombie makeup. Perfect.

"So?" Atton said, leaning back. "Tell them to mind their own business."

April shrugged. "It won't suck that much." Plus her parents were outrageously generous with her, so, best not to burn that bridge. "Anyway now I'll get to teach you guys how to not do shit. Valuable lessons and all that."

"I think I figured out how not to do shit when I was ten years old," Atton drawled, "But then not everybody seems to have my instincts."

"Definitely not that moron," April agreed, nodding toward a guy in the movie who had decided that going in to work on the day of the zombie apocalypse was a good idea, and was now getting eaten. "Or like, half the people that other week who were fighting and blowing crap up and whatever."

April had preferred to just tough it out in detention until being freed, at which point she'd gone for burgers. Much saner.

Atton shrugged. "Hey, I moved in and I came out all right after the initial stabbing," he said. "But then we broke in while everyone else was punching each other's lights out somewhere else."

"Not bad," April decided after a moment. "I was in detention. Crazy bitch thought I was hiding powers or something 'cause she couldn't put that spell on me."
