Between A Parked Spaceship And A Woodworking Station On The MCA Roof | Thursday Evening

It had occured to April this morning that she'd never actually been to the roof of her apartment building. Of course, "morning" for April on a day that she didn't have to work was, like, two o'clock, so it didn't really take her all that long before she actually made good on it.

By the time she made it up there, the sun was setting, and she had dinner in the sense that a pizza she'd bought on Sunday had been living in her fridge for the past half a week, so she figured she might as well bring what was left of it up to the roof (still in the pizza box, of course -- who bothered with plates?) and work on it there. The spaceship(s) and woodworking station meant there wasn't a lot of room, but if she hung out by the ledge and used that for a table, she was fine.

Huh. This was kinda nice.

[[open roof! this is because my paid trial runs out tomorrow morning and i felt wasteful. ALSO, because [livejournal.com profile] cataclysmicluck, that's why.]]

Today had been... a day. After Jono's venture to the Perk that morning he'd mostly just sat back in his apartment, playing with Joni, messing around on his guitar.

It hadn't been all that different from any other day, except maybe for that weight that felt like it had been lifted from his shoulders.

But as the day rolled on, he found himself getting more and more antsy, and by the time the sun was starting to go down, he'd decided that the only thing for it was to step outside and get some fresh air. And what better way to do that than to fly, and take in that sunset from the rooftops.

He hadn't been up there long before he spotted a familiar face, and after a moment's consideration, he flew over to give her a nod hello.

"Dinner with a view, luv?"

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-23 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
April... had not been aware that Jono could fly, honestly. So... blinking. A bit.

"Yeah, figured it'd be quicker than microwaving," she said with a shrug. Which was true, because... she didn't have a microwave yet. "Want?"
furnaceface: (Well shite)

Jono considered the pizza for a moment, and then shrugged and stepped down onto the ledge of the roof.

"I might as well," he decided. "I haven't had dinner yet this evening, and pizza and I seem to get along well enough."

Unless it was extra hot chilli something. In which case, he would be regretting this decision shortly.

"Pizza always was better cold, at any rate."

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Fortunately for Jono, it was chili-free!

"Good, 'cause it's been in my fridge since Sunday," April reported. "Any longer and it'd probably turn colors."

Jono considered the slice of pizza that he'd just picked up for a moment, and then shrugged and took a bite.

"I've eaten worse," he decided, and then bothered to chew. "The important thing is that there's nothing growing on it now."

... That was the important thing, right?

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Nothing visible, anyway," April supplied, claiming a slice for herself. "But who knows."
furnaceface: (Casual. Ish.)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2012-08-24 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
"If we both die," Jono ventured, "at least it was delicious."

Well. It wasn't utterly horrifying. That was about the same thing, when you hadn't eaten for as long as him.

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Eh," April said dismissively. "They make it better in Pawnee."

They weren't the fourth-most obese town in the country for nothing!

"So," she said, in between bites while wishing she'd brought up a beer or something, "you fly, huh."
furnaceface: (Hmm.)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2012-08-24 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
"I fly," Jono agreed, shrugging as if it was really no big deal while somewhere deep down he was still marvelling over it. "I'm just full of surprises, luv."

He was kind of also wishing he'd brought a beer or two, honestly. Alas.

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
"It looks less ridiculous now that we're not in the bar and you're not shitfaced," she informed him. Because this was a bit more impressive than hovering a few feet above the ground, yes. "Nice."
furnaceface: (Side-eye)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2012-08-24 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, that's good to hear. I'd hate to think I look as ridiculous out here than I do when I'm three sheets to the wind and trying to remember how to land."

Which had been hilarious, okay?

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Nope," April confirmed. "Good for you."
furnaceface: (Huff)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2012-08-24 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll mark it in the calendar," Jono decided, finishing that slice of pizza and contemplating a second. "As... some sort of small victory for my self-esteem."

His self-esteem kind of needed it, sometimes.

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Hell yeah." On anyone else, the monotone might have reduced the impact of the words, but you know what, it was April. This had to be expected at this point. "Blog it or something."

[identity profile] cataclysmicluck.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
As it turned out, the mission had been the chaotic success that Reciprocity's missions usually were. But timing meant that Zayne had to get back to Fandom rather than dwell on the mission.

And so here he was, flying his shuttle into view and making a course for his landing pad. Realizing that he had to make sure not to disturb a person at the patio was a little weird. Who actually came up here to hang out? He'd have to ask that once the landing sequence ended and he climbed out.

Until then, have fun watching the shuttle!
furnaceface: (Ponder)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2012-08-24 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd need a blog for that," Jono pointed out, shrugging. "Kitty was horrified the other week when she took it upon herself to walk me through using Google."

It had been surprisingly user-friendly!

... Though the basketball game thing had been somewhat distracting.

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
...Right, April hadn't expected that there might be people actually trying to land over here.

She did her best to watch all detachedly, because spaceships landing on roofs weren't exciting at all, okay, and she casually started on a slice of pizza while leaning back on the ledge for Zayne to land it.

Because she was cool. You know.

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
........

"You don't know how to Google?"
furnaceface: (Eheheh...)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2012-08-24 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
"I do," Jono replied, smiling wryly. "Type what you want to look for, hit the button. I'd be ashamed of myself if I couldn't figure out a website that had all of two options to choose from."

It was the rest of the internet that gave him trouble, generally.

"I know my way around YouTube as well."

So he knew the essentials.

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Good." April paused. "I should do a lesson on that in my class. Googling shit."

[identity profile] cataclysmicluck.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Zayne opened the cockpit don't laugh and hopped out. "Hi. I don't usually see people up here when I'm coming in for a landing."
furnaceface: (Side-eye)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2012-08-24 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
"What class are you teaching, if you don't mind my asking?"

Jono's curiosity, right there. See it? See how invested he was in finding out what sort of class would cover Google?

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
April looked around, taking in all the woodworking and spaceships.

"But it's so scenic."

That was one hundred percent sarcasm, yup.

Even if the view was pretty nice.

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
"'How to Not Do Things.'"

Get it now, Jono? Get it?

[identity profile] cataclysmicluck.livejournal.com 2012-08-24 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
"If you like spaceships and aren't bothered by the occasional exhaust fume, sure," Zayne said, walking over. "Which means it's usually just me tuning up my swoop bike or getting ready for another trip back home or something."
